The Depravity of Ignoring and Disregarding Sy Hersh's Explosive Nord Stream Report
Journalists in the corporate media have egregiously neglected their duty to the American public by refusing to acknowledge this blockbuster report. Others discredit it based on deference to authority.

On Wednesday, February 8th, world-renowned and award-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh published an explosive report right here on Substack, chronicling in painstaking detail how it was the American government that conducted the Nord Stream pipeline sabotages. Since then, the corporate media has exhibited an awkward ambivalence toward reporting on the news story, instead preferring to discredit or ignore it.
(I highly recommend reading Hersh’s report in full, as it is very consequential.)
From the outset of the Nord Stream bombings, it was always clear, despite the media and government’s baseless insinuation, that Russia did not, in fact, destroy its own pipelines. Such a move would be self-inflicted damage on Russia’s part, taking away its ability to sell cheap natural gas to Europe and thus depriving Europe of its reliance on Russian resources — a clear loss for Russia. To put it bluntly, Russia had no incentive within reason to orchestrate such an operation, and it would be absurd of them to do so.
One country that did harbor an incentive to carry out such an operation was the United States. As Hersh details thoroughly throughout his blockbuster report, it was an American operation to take out the pipelines, coordinated at the highest levels of the Biden administration with the assistance of Norway. An excerpt from the piece reads:
Last June, the Navy divers, operating under the cover of a widely publicized mid-summer NATO exercise known as BALTOPS 22, planted the remotely triggered explosives that, three months later, destroyed three of the four Nord Stream pipelines, according to a source with direct knowledge of the operational planning.
Despite this extraordinary revelation by Hersh, the mainstream media has chosen to defame Hersh, discredit his work, and bury his latest piece.
Seymour Hersh is no ordinary journalist, nor is he validly “discredited.” Widely regarded as one of the most important and illustrious journalists of his time, he is known well for his many exposures, which include the My Lai Massacre and its coverup in Vietnam in 1969, the U.S. military’s torture of inmates at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq in 2004, and now the recent revelation of America sabotaging the Nord Stream pipelines.
For his exceptional work and journalistic efforts, Hersh has won numerous awards. For his work in uncovering what happened at My Lai, he won the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting in 1970. Adding to that, Hersh has won five George Polk Awards in addition to two National Magazine Awards.
It can be safely said that he makes current journalists in the corporate world look like amateurs when considering how many breaking news stories Hersh has revealed.
In light of his recent report regarding the Nord Stream pipeline bombings, many journalists within the mainstream media have, laughably, claimed that Hersh is ‘discredited,’ claiming his Nord Stream report is “a gift to Putin.” Mia Jankowicz is one of them. A Business Insider article titled “The claim by a discredited journalist that the US secretly blew up the Nord Stream pipeline is proving a gift to Putin” illustrates how far the mainstream press has fallen in terms of idiotic subservience to their overlords — the U.S. government.
Putting it kindly, Jankowicz has never broken a story of vast importance in her journalistic lifetime. Hersh, on the other hand, has done so multiple times. A “once-celebrated journalist,’’ Janowicz describes Hersh, “made unproven claims the US blew up the Nord Stream pipelines.”
Protruding skepticism over Hersh’s anonymous source, Janowiwcz chooses to dismiss the report entirely, citing firm White House denial and Kremlin “glee.” In truth, it’s absurd to dismiss this story. The anonymity of sources is oftentimes essential in investigative journalism, protecting the source’s identity. On the other hand, anonymity offers individuals within governments who want to reveal something to journalists in the public interest safety and security from potential reprisal. Dismissing and disregarding this report by Hersh is a grave mistake and an egregious dereliction of duty to the American public.
A Brazen Act of War
Weeks before Russia sent troops to Ukraine, many U.S. officials made it abundantly clear that Nord Stream would not exist if Russia carried out its plans on Ukraine. On January 27th, 2022, in responding to a reporter’s question, Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland promised that if Russia invades Ukraine, “one way or another, Nord Stream 2 will not move forward."
Additionally, in early February of 2022, President Joe Biden pledged the same threat if Russia invaded, assuring “that there will no longer be a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it." In turn, a reporter asked for an elaboration on how Biden would do such a thing, and Biden responded, "I promise you, we will be able to do that."
Just recently, Nuland appeared in the spotlight once again. At a Senate hearing responding to Senator Ted Cruz’s questions, Nuland rejoiced in the Nord Stream sabotage: “Senator Cruz, like you, I am, and I think the administration is, very gratified to know that Nord Stream 2 is now, as you like to say, a hunk of metal at the bottom of the sea."

These extraordinary remarks are out in the open for all to listen to. Truthfully, there is little doubt that the United States government conducted the Nord Stream attacks. Russia knows that America did it. Berlin certainly knows it as well.
In stating the obvious, where is the media? Where are the questions from the press directed at Joe Biden, Jake Sullivan, and Victoria Nuland? Where is the massive press coverage of Hersh’s report? The Biden administration’s sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines constitutes a brazen act of war against Russia, a nuclear power. It can also be said that the attacks are an act of war against Germany, a vital NATO ally. Something of this magnitude and importance cannot be carelessly brushed aside. The public deserves answers.
The corporate media’s attitude toward both covering the story and ignoring it is uniquely abhorrent on a massive scale. The American public deserves the truth as to what happened, as this is an act of war by our own government against a nuclear power, Russia, during a time of increased tensions.
In conclusion, the media’s handling of covering Seymour Hersh’s blockbuster report reinforces the true notion that the corporate press is not an ally of the people but rather an enemy of the people. In today’s journalistic climate, corporate journalists are far more interested in spreading state propaganda than countering it. Seymour Hersh deserves immense credit for preferring the latter.
Just like all the Biden and Obama crimes. They will be ignored by the corporate media and the Uniparty Democrats and Republicans. This being an outright act of war and no oversight by Congress, it is impeachable to say the lesst.
